Three journalists from Al-Jazeera TV channel were arrested and placed in custody after flying a drone Wednesday afternoon in the Bois de Boulogne in Paris selon sour media sources.

The three journalists working for the Qatari television channel Al-Jazeera, in custody since Wednesday after flying a drone in Paris, were released Thursday, according to a judicial source.

Only one of them , the pilot of the drone will be summoned before the court next week to hear his sentence in the proceedings of ” plead guilty “. However, no action was taken against his two colleagues arrested with him in the Bois de Boulogne , near Paris according to media sources who said that the custody of the three men -two British and one Belge- had been lifted Thursday morning.

The arrests came after the flyover, two nights in a row,of drones over Paris that led to an investigation by the prosecutor of Paris. “No link was possible for the time being between these arrests and night overflights,” according to a source. Flying drones over Paris without a license is banned by law.
The offense carries a maximum one-year prison sentence and a €75,000 (£55,000; $85,000) fine. It is against the law for any aircraft to fly lower than 6,000m (19,700ft) over central Paris. Flying any aircraft under that ceiling – including drones, police helicopters and air ambulances – requires permission from city authorities.

The three journalists of the international Al-Jazeera Tv station, whose nationality was not disclosed yet , are aged 34, 52 and 68 years. They were arrested around 3:30 p.m. in the Bois de Boulogne, west of Paris. “The first one was flying the drone, the second one was filming and the third one watched,” the source said. Overflights drones without permission is prohibited in Paris, especially in such high amount.

Les trois journalistes travaillant pour la chaîne de télévision qatarie Al-Jazeera, en garde à vue depuis mercredi après avoir fait voler un drone à Paris, ont été relâchés jeudi, selon une source judiciaire.

Seulement  l’un d’eux, le pilote du drone, sera convoqué devant le tribunal la semaine prochaine pour entendre sa condamnation dans le cadre d’une procédure de “plaider coupable”, a-t-on précisé de même source.

Aucune poursuite n’a été engagée contre ses deux confrères arrêtés avec lui dans le Bois de Boulogne, près de Paris, selon des médias qui ont précisé que les gardes à vue des trois hommes -deux Britanniques et un Belge- avaient été levées jeudi matin. Source: rtbf.be

Ces interpellations interviennent après le survol, deux nuits de suite, de drones au-dessus de Paris qui ont donné lieu à l’ouverture d’une enquête par le parquet de Paris. «Aucun rapprochement n’est pour l’heure possible entre ces arrestations et les survols nocturnes», selon l’une des sources.

Les trois journalistes du service international d’Al-Jazeera, dont la nationalité n’a pas été précisée, sont âgés de 34 ans, 52 ans et de 68 ans. Ils ont été interpellés vers 15H30 au bois de Boulogne, dans l’ouest de Paris. «Le premier pilotait le drone, le deuxième filmait, le troisième regardait», selon cette source. Les survols de drones sans autorisation sont interdits à Paris.
