In Berlin, Germany, the third and fourth (the completed power plant will have eight) gas turbine for the Beni Suef gas-fired power plant in the south of Egypt left the Siemens factory. The H-class turbines had been transported on a special 192-wheel vehicle from the assembly hall to the 250-meter long loading bay where they were put on to a heavy cargo shuttle. The transport route of the 445-ton gas turbines passed through the residential area of Berlin-Moabit, police had to stop the traffic for a short while.

A heavy cargo shuttle then moved the energetic load via waterways through parts of Berlin to the harbor area. At Berlin-Westhafen, important guests welcomed the powerful gas turbines on April 1st, 2016: Dr. Badr Abdelatty, the Ambassador of Egypt in Germany, and a group of TV reporters witnessed the loading of one of the turbines from the cargo shuttle on to a barge for the route to Hamburg. Dr. Abdelatty was impressed by the heavy fright, which is of great importance for the country. He said on Egypt TV: “Once the project is completed, these turbines will provide 14.4 gigawatts of electricity— approximately 14,000 megawatts of the additional power to the national grid. Representing more than 50 percent of Egypt’s currently installed base, the project is a manifestation of the significant progress– currently being achieved in Egypt; an achievement that will have positive and immediate impact on investment in the country.”
