The link between the United States and the mercenaries laying waste to Syria is ‘ambiguous.’ Really. Russia is as culpable as the U.S. for war crimes being committed in Syria? Who or what has invaded Syria since 2011? Where do the foreign fighters come from? Where do the weapons — for example the TOW missle system — come from? What about the weapon’s caches raided in Lybia, where did those weapons end up?

Is the premise, here, that the people of Syria and their national army have not right to try to repulse a foreign backed military assault of their country? And if force is the only option against brutal invaders, are people not going to die, innocents included? War bloodies the hands of everyone once started. Do you really want me to believe that although in the beginning the West may have been acting militarily in the Middle East for purely Imperialistic reasons, it’s military remit has now by default become humanitarian and against Russian barbarism?

Everyone may agree that the Russian capitalist elites, as much as the Western capitalist elites, are implicated in the Middle East not out of humanitarian concern, but with an eye to future profits. But to equate Russian involvement and influence in the Middle East with that of the Americans is rather laughable. The Russians have no plans to militarily control the Middle East whereas it is a matter of public record that the Americans do, and one only has to recall the utter destruction of Iraq and Lybia to ascertain the kind of change the West has in mind for Syria and Iran and eventually even Russia. Furthermore, objectively speaking, Russia is on the side of a more pluralistic and secular rule, whereas the Americans back the most reactionary and tyrannical power blocks of the Middle East. In my opinion, as Samir Amin also puts it, there is a clear choice between Russia and America, as between a more progressive political and social agenda and one that is clearly by far and away both more reactionary and oppressive from the standpoint of ordinary people.

see, for example and for what to my mind is a better contextualized analysis of the substance of the geopolitical conflict between Russia and the West,Russia and the Ukraine Crisis: The Eurasian Project in Conflict with the Triad Imperialist Policies

    1. Thank you for your comment Norman. The subject of the post was the silence of russian media regarding the bombings in Aleppo and not making an equation of US and Russia’s bombings in Syria.
Assad’s regime believes that now is the time to seize the town from the opposition : moderate or not. The only thing we see in Syria is the death of innocent people and refugees who nobody wants: EU, Gulf states etc as the unemployment in Europe has skyrocketed.

Of course, USA backed terrorists in Syria, terrorists become moderates and moderates become terrorists the next day.
The whole point is to try to stay neutral between a war of hegemony between the US (profits behind Obama, Obama is just a mappet of US capiltalists interests) and Russia.
It’s weird that we don’t hear the Russian opposition saying nothing about this war, it is inexistant through these medias: Sputnik, RT.com, Channel One Russia etc.

The real point is who is dying here? Syrian people, who are forced to get out of Syria? Syrian Refugees!
The est of Aleppo will be empty in a few weeks if the regime continues to bomb at this rate killing civilians.

“The Russians have no plans to militarily control the Middle East whereas it is a matter of public record that the Americans do, and one only has to recall the utter destruction of Iraq and Lybia to ascertain the kind of change the West has in mind for Syria and Iran and eventually even Russia”: I agree, not even US want to stay in Syria or Irak now, they have their shale gas while destroying country’s environment they have enough for now. But Syria is the outcome of US hypocricy in the Middle East. Hillary Douche will sell guns and logistics for get more money into the US machine. Is that the democracy we want? Trump-Clinton is the worst nightmare for the whole humanity.

How can a future president of the US say :why we don’t just drone this guy? In every conspiracy theory US has its finger behind …
But Putin wants a strong military Russia in order to show to the people that Russia is here and it’s strong, but we know that Russia is in decline.
In this article i explained (through sources as always) the role of the dollar in the global economy and the “Russian agression for the US”
      https://middleeastnewsservice.com/2016/09/26/united-states-and-its-unique-worldwide-war-propaganda-machine-the-dollar/

The question is not who is winning this war. There is a vicious circle of violence in Syria which no one has yet been able to break. What i see and i’m afraid of, is that this war will degenerate into more chaos and war across this globe.

It is not a question of equating USA’s mistakes in the region with those of Russia. Of course ,US cannot be compared as their policies put ISIS and Al-Qaeda in Syria and not Russia.
But what a shame for Russia to blindly pursuing Assad’s discredited “democracy” in Syria.
But will Syria become Libya and Irak? Syria’s current situation is a hell in an open sky. Do we have the answers? No and we don’t know everything about USA and Russia’s deals regarding this conflict. Meanwhile i only see people dying into the sea, decapitated people. Assad’s regime cooperated with ISIS at the beginning and he was giving them even salaries and other crimes. Who supports Assad’s regime? Russia… Everyone has blood on his hands directly or inderectly.

      1. ‘Assad’s regime cooperated with ISIS at the beginning and he was giving them even salaries and other crimes.”

I’m not question the truth or untruth of this statement, but could you refer me to sources that would corroborate this statement. Not that I’m looking to absolve Assad or Russia of anything, I’m just curious, so as to round out my understanding.

Indeed, everyone has innocent blood on their hands, and as Amin points out, after the neoliberal turn that the Syrain government took at the turn of this century, there was widespread discontent among Syrians with the Assad government (I myself would call it an autocratic ‘regime,’ as in fact all ‘capitalist’ societies are). So Assad is in fact guilty of highhanded repression. against the Syrian population. However, once the Western mercenaries began to infiltrate into Syria to co-opt the objective potential for popular unrest in Syria, the population chose to stand with Assad rather than with the invading barbarians. That is an important detail, which means that by implication Russia’s intervention in Syria is on the side of the popular will in Syria.

At any rate, if you could refer me to additional sources on the link between Assad and ISIS in the early days of the unrest in Syria, I’d much appreciate that.

      2. Please watch this video from the 25th-30th minute: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hHCfGH9WkA

payslips made by the Syrian government for an oil facility captured by ISIS during the months when isis was holding this facility. Of course there is a lot of conspiracy there, oil-money-logistics- war : supply chain. Of course Assad has blood on his hands, and a total war of propaganda, journalists paid to promote Assad’s interests, journalists paid to promote NATO’s interests etc… a new cold war era.

However, the situation is very complicated and as i mentionned we don’t know what takes place behind the syrian theatre
