As Syrian forces and their allies complete the encirclement of Syria’s largest city, Aleppo, the United States and its regional allies have signaled a sudden increased interest in ground operations in Syria, including US airpower backing Turkish-Saudi ground forces.

ISIS planning for ‘large-scale’ attacks on Europe: Europol//Daech prépare des «attaques d’ampleur» en Europe


ISIS has honed the ability to launch global attacks and is set to focus more on Europe following the Paris massacre, the chief of the EU police agency Europol said Monday.

A report coinciding with the opening of a new counterterror centre in the Hague shows “how the so-called Islamic State had developed a new combat style capability to carry out a campaign of large-scale terrorist attacks on a global stage — with a particular focus in Europe,” Rob Wainwright told reporters.

L’organisation Etat islamique (EI) a développé «une nouvelle capacité de combat pour effectuer une campagne d’attaques d’ampleur» concentrées en particulier sur l’Europe et la France, a averti lundi le directeur d’Europol, Rob Wainwright, citant un rapport des analystes de l’organisation.

M. Wainwright a fait cette déclaration lors de l’inauguration du nouveau Centre européen de contre-terrorisme, basé à Amsterdam. Ce dernier devrait notamment permettre aux services européens d’échanger plus facilement des informations.
