General Security said Saturday that it has arrested two members of ISIS, one of whom confessed to being the extremist group’s official “emir” for the north Lebanon district of Akkar.

The two, identified as B.F. and Aa.M., were arrested on charges of “forming a cell working to serve the interests of a terror organization,” General Security said in a statement.
The two suspects admitted to working at the behest of ISIS, it added.
Security forces have been cracking down on extremist militants in the wake of a double suicide bombing which rocked the Beirut southern suburb of Burj al-Barajneh last month, killing 47 people and wounding over 200.
Claimed by ISIS, the blast was the first to target the suburbs, where Hezbollah enjoys wide support, in more than one year.
